Hirohiko Araki made his manga debut in 1981 with the Wild West story Busô Poker. He experimented with several genres, including mystery (Mashonen B.T.) and action-horror (Baoh), before beginning JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in 1986. Propelled by imaginative storylines, weird imagery and individualistic artwork, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the longest-running and most popular shonen manga ever. Araki’s current works include a new series set in the JoJo universe, JoJolion.
The legendary Shonen Jump series is now available in deluxe hardcover editions featuring color pages! JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a groundbreaking manga famous for its outlandish characters, wild humor and frenetic battles.
In April 1999, Jotaro Kujo travels to a town in Japan called Morioh to find a young man named Josuke Higashikata, the secret love child of his grandfather, Joseph Joestar. Beautifully executed If you're a JoJo fan you've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever. My son and I were so excited to open the box from Amazon and finally hold our copies of Diamond is unbreakable. It is fabulous. The cover art inspired. I love the color palette he has chosen. The background is a shade of purple and the school uniform on one side is presented in purple and on the other side shades of evergreen. The story is fabulous. I'm not about to spoil anything in case by some sad twist of fate you haven't already read it online. But if you've enjoyed JoJo and his amazing villains you will truly love what is presented in this edition. There are epic battles, some wonderful character development, classic illustration, and a great adventure. I hope you treasure this as much as we do.A little disappointed but I'll keep buying I have been excited for these special volumes to finally reach Part 4 so that I could begin reading that story. The frist 3 parts I had read previously, but I have been collecting these special volumes and re-reading the stories because the editions were so nice looking and the author's insight into character creation and artwork in every volume was interesting. When the cover for the first volume of Part 4 was added to the Amazon listing, I noticed it was drastically different from all of the previous parts, which had been consistent in their design. To my dismay though, the image was never corrected and it seems they have gone in a different direction. The cover now seems much more like a traditional manga volume and doesn't match any of the previous parts, which I find disappointing since these are clearly collector' s volumes.Having received it in person, the book is still of the same level of quality, and they have continued the partial colorizations of some of the chapters and pages like in previous parts, which adds some nice detail. The story itself is as interesting as ever and I'm excited to see where it will go from here, now that things have gotten beyond the point I've read before. I was disappointed again however when I reached the end of the volume to find that there is no commentary at all from Araki about the characters or artwork involved in the volume. Instead, there are some very brief anecdotes about himself. This feels oddly impersonal, even though it's personal information, because it feels like Araki is maybe no longer contributing anything special to these volumes. In each volume of the previous parts Araki did special new artwork for the covers and talked about the choices he had made. Now it feels like they might possibly just be recycling existing art, which is a little sad, but I suppose the end result still works. These reissues of Part 4 seem to have lost a lot of the charming little details that initially appealed to me as a collector when buying parts 1-3, but at the end of the day, it's still JoJo however it is being packaged, and I'm enjoying it.A story of a crazy, noisy, bizarre town. Diamond is unbreakable. Still my favorite part of Jojo's bizarre adventure, and for good reason. I'm glad to see the manga is just as good as the anime.Diamond is Unbreakable takes place in Morioh, a midsized japanese town. Jotaro Kujo has come to visit for two reasons. One, to meet Josuke Higashikata, Joseph Joestar's illegitimate son. And two, to find a serial killer, and figure out how he got a stand. It only takes a few pages for this version of Jojo to show why it's the best. Josuke's stand, Shining Diamond, has the power to fix things. Araki immediately finds creative ways to use this power, creating fights that are far more creative and entertaining than anything that has come before. While the character development hasn't really gotten started yet, I can assure you that by the end of volume three, the cast in this series is going to be one of the best to come out of Japan.Looking forward to the next volume.
